Firewall configuration demo 02:58
The Windows Firewall will automatically alert you when software is been blocked and needs to be allowed through the Firewall. If this does not occur or you need to change the settings, you can open the control panel and select Windows Firewall and then select the option allow a program or feature through Windows Firewall. To make change to the settings make sure you press the button at the top change settings.
Network Awareness Services
The Network Awareness Service will automatically detect when your computer changes network. When this happens it will change you firewall profile. Windows firewall comes with 3 different configurations. These are domain, home/work/private and public. The domain network is automatically used when your computer connects up to a domain. The other two profiles are manually configured by the user. If you want to change which firewall profile your network adapter is using, open Network and sharing center and select your network found under the view your active networks section. This will give you a Windows in which you can select the type of connection that adapter is connected to.
